I signed up for Bloggiesta! What is Bloggiesta? Well, it’s a blogging marathon happening June 11th, 12th, and 13th. It is hosted by Natasha at Maw Books Blog.
Here is what Natasha has to say about Bloggiesta.
"Some of you may be asking what is Bloggiesta? In short, it’s a blogging marathon. A opportunity to cross those nagging items off of your to-do list and improve your blog while in the good company of other awesome bloggers doing the same thing. Break out the nachos, enchiladas, drinks, mariachi music and whack a pinata or two! “
Check out this post for tons of amazing ideas, and all the rules about how to take part in Bloggiesta!
Here is a list of some of things I hope to accomplish during Bloggiesta.
- Write and post a review policy.
- Organize reviews alphabetically by author’s last name.
- Schedule posts for the week mother-in-law is visiting.
- Catch up on reviews.
- Schedule posts for all the blog tours happening this month.
- Clean up tags.
- Update challenge lists.
- Tackle the Google Reader! Organize! Organize! Organize!
Question: I follow a ton of blogs. I ♥ my bloggy friends, and enjoy reading what they have to say. Only thing is some haven’t had an update in a very long time. I hate to unfollow (is that a word), but the feed list is miles (yes, an exaggeration) long. I feel like cleaning out the blogs that aren’t active will make my Google Reader less daunting. So do you stop following blogs that aren’t active? How long do you usually wait before removing them from your feed?
Super excited about Bloggiesta if you can’t tell! Check back tomorrow for the start of Bloggiesta, and a Blog Tour, Review, and Giveaway (3 Copies) of Knight of Passion by Margaret Mallory.
i just wrote a post about cleaning up google reader. i do unfollow inactive blogs after a month or two of no posts but i always check their site before unfollowing to see if maybe they just moved and didn't know how to move their rss feed along with it. of course there are always exceptions for blogs that i'll always follow (like my siblings)
ReplyDeleteI really like your blog! I'm a new author and have enjoyed this new experience. I find that it's the most difficult and most rewarding. I'm also a graphic designer and love having that creative outlet as well.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your post! I will be back for more updates. :-)

I'm participating in this for the first time this weekend and I'm pretty amped up about it. There seems to be a lot of people participating and I look forward to reading about their progress. I'm such a nerd because organization makes me happy. =)
ReplyDeleteGood luck to you!
Rowena, if you’re a nerd, so am I. I love to organize. It is such a great stress reliever :)
ReplyDeleteHi Melissa! Thanks for stopping by. Writing and graphic design! Awesome! You must be one creative chica :)
Carrie, Thanks for weighing in on the keep following/stop following dilemma. I appreciate the advice. I’ll definitely check out the feeds, and make sure I’m not missing anything.
I have un-followed a few people, and I find that writing them a message to let them know always helps to know if they're going to become active again. I've actually had one to write to me and tell me when she did actually start blogging again so I could follow her feeds.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking about cleaning my Google Reader as well. Because I have noticed a few blogs I have decided to follow haven't been updated in years! LOL, I haven't even been blogging that long, not sure how I missed it, but ah well. Time to take that Mr. Clean Magic Eraser thing to my list. :)
ReplyDeleteOrganize! Organize! Organize! is right, I'm really excited to get some bloggy stuff done this weekend.
ReplyDeleteI'm also really excited to interact with everyone else participating!
As for following inactive blogs, I have no advice because one of the main things I plan on working on this weekend IS cleaning out my Google Reader which I've never done before! I must admit, I'm a little afraid ;)
Good luck!! Hope you accomplish all you need to!
ReplyDeleteAs long as hope holds out, I guess :-). There's been ones I dropped after 6 months and some I'm hanging onto despite nearly 1 year of inactivity.
