Description from Goodreads:

In Georgina Kincaid, succubus and she-demon, #1 New York Timesbestselling author Richelle Mead has created one of her most enticing characters. But with a shot at love, and maybe even redemption, is the ultimate seductress finally going soft? Like hell she is. . .

Georgina Kincaid has had an eternity to figure out the opposite sex, but sometimes they still surprise her. Take Seth Mortensen. The man has risked his soul to become Georgina's boyfriend. Still, with Lucifer for a boss, Georgina can't just hang up her killer heels and settle down to domestic bliss. In fact, she's being forced to transfer operations. . .to Las Vegas.

The City of Sin is a dream gig for a succubus, but Georgina's allies are suspicious. Why are the powers-that-be so eager to get her away from Seattle—and from Seth? Georgina is one of Hell's most valuable assets, but if there's any way out of the succubus business she plans to take it—no matter how much roadkill she leaves behind. She just hopes the casualties won't include the one man she's risking everything for. . .

My thoughts:

About two years ago I’d just discovered the fun to be had with books starring supernatural characters. I happened to find Richelle Mead’s Succubus Blues while browsing the shelves of my local library. Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance were both new to me and up until that point I was strictly a werewolf and vampire kind of girl. I read the synopsis on the back. Succubus living in Seattle...Works at a local bookstore...Demon boss obsessed with John Cusack...Succubus has a huge crush on a hottie author. I had to see what this series was about. I took it home and was hooked after just one chapter. Thankfully several books in Georgina’s series were all ready published, and I had several crazy tales involving Georgina and her friends to keep me busy. I actually read the first four one right after the other and it easily won a spot as one of my most favorite series.

Georgina is a character I couldn’t help but to be drawn to (even with the whole minion of hell thing). She isn’t at all like you’d expect a succubus to behave. She struggled with guilt often over the choices she had made. She also cares so strongly when it comes to the people (human and not) in her life. I love quirky characters and definitely think that is an apt description for Georgina’s circle of friends. I loved this series from start to finish, even when things got a little dark towards the middle.

Longtime readers of this series won't be disappointed. Richelle Mead gives us the closure we hoped for. I enjoyed spending this final action packed and emotional installment with the characters I've come to know and love. While I was so very pleased with the perfect conclusion to this amazing series, I was also saddened that it was the end. I hope Richelle Mead will consider using characters from Georgina’s world in a future series. I’d love the chance to see them again.

Love Urban Fantasy? Hate waiting for the next book in a series? If you haven’t started this series you really must and you won’t even have to play the dreaded series waiting game. You know the one I’m talking about. Where you obsessively wait for the release date to finally get answers to the questions raised in the previous book, only to find yourself left with more questions at the end of the new release. The Georgina Kincaid series is complete and ready to be devoured :)

P.S Congratulations on the birth of your beautiful baby boy, Richelle! You can read about her new baby here.

WARNING: Spoilers for the first 4 books in this series below!

Description from Goodreads:

Georgina Kincaid has formidable powers. Immortality, seduction, shape-shifting into any human form she desires, walking in heels that would cripple mere mortals—all child’s play to a succubus like her.

Helping to plan her ex-boyfriend’s wedding is a different story. Georgina isn’t sure which is worse—that Seth is marrying another woman, or that Georgina has to run all over Seattle trying on bridesmaid dresses. Still, there are distractions. Georgina’s roommate, Roman, is cluttering her apartment with sexual tension. Then there’s Simone, the new succubus in town, who’s intent on corrupting Seth.

And if that wasn't bad enough, she's started having dreams shadowy, dangerous but alluring dreams, dreams that don't want to let go. These dreams are created by the Oneroi, demons in the service of Nyx, a creature from Hell who's bent on revenge. These are dreams that can trap their chosen victim and drain their powers through nightmares. This mysterious force that’s visiting her thoughts, is trying to draw her into a dark, otherworldly realm. Sooner or later, Georgina knows she’ll be too weak to resist. And Georgina is powerless as she watches those in the real world try to find her, she comes to understand that her freedom her fate lies in the hands of the only one who can find her soul, who just happens to be the man who s about to marry someone else. She’ll discover who she can trust, who she can’t—and that Hell is far from the worst place to spend eternity…

My thoughts:

This is the fifth book in the Georgina Kincaid series and it did not disappoint. Let me start by saying I’m so happy to see Roman return. I know he’s bad but I can’t help but love him. I’m still rooting for Carter as the man Georgina will end up with. Unlikely I know but I can hope right?

Succubus Shadows contained lots and lots of Georgie flashbacks in the form of dreams. I think this book really helped me to understand where Richelle Mead is going with this series but also left me with many unanswered questions. Why is Carter so invested in Georgina’s life? What is up with the bond between Seth and Georgina? Why is Jerome obsessed with John Cusack ;) Ok I’ll be serious now and try to give my opinion on this book without giving too much away. It’s going to be hard because I have so many theories and ideas about what is happening bouncing around in my head.

It’s disheartening to see how long Georgina has struggled with her role as succubus. She is quite the romantic at heart. Not a characteristic that normally goes hand in hand with someone who seduces men and steals their life force for a living. Her whole reason for becoming a succubus was so altruistic it doesn’t seem fair she will spend an eternity as one of hell’s minions. Yes, I’m aware that her poor choices led to her becoming a succubus but how many of us would sign our souls over to hell in order to fix something that hurt the ones we love?

From the flashbacks in this installment it really shows how Georgina seems to be reliving a recurring cycle so to speak. Continually being drawn to artsy (coincidence?) men that she can’t be with for one reason or another. She has definitely experienced more than her share of heartbreak over the course of her immortal life.

This book was definitely a fabulous addition to the Georgina Kincaid series. I can’t believe there will only be one more book in this series and that we have to wait an entire year for it to be published. Waiting sucks!

Succubus Shadows also featured the first chapter of the third book in Richelle Mead’s Dark Swan series, Iron Crowned.
