Please welcome Tanna from One Moment by Kristina McBride to the blog today!
**********
What is your fondest childhood memory?
Exploring the woods with Maggie, Shannon, Joey, Adam, and Pete. Specifically, the day we found our favorite spot in the entire world – our jumping hole – and took the first plunge from that cliff top into the cool water below.
If you had to tweet a description of your friendship with Maggie and the rest of the gang what would it say? 140 characters or less.
My friends are my whole world. Love. Them. Forever.
What was your first thought when you realized Joey was seriously hurt after his jump?
I don’t remember thinking anything at all. I just ran into the water because I needed to get him out – his face was under and I knew he couldn’t breathe. I just needed him to breathe.
Losing Joey must have been so hard. Do you have any advice for someone who is dealing with the death of a friend or family member?
Take it one step at a time and spend as much time as you can with people who love you and will be there no matter what. Memories are like sunlight, the only thing left to keep you warm, and even if they hurt at first, they’ll eventually help you through the worst part of your pain.
What are your plans for after high school?
College. I’m thinking I might work towards a degree in crisis intervention. After losing Joey, I’d love to be able help others who are dealing with a loss.
Thanks, Tanna! It was great to get to know you a better.
