This week I’m waiting on,
The Jewel and the Key
by Louise Spiegler
Releases: July 2011
Synopsis via Goodreads
An earthquake and the discovery of a mysterious antique mirror unleash forces that jolt sixteen-year-old Addie McNeal back to 1917 Seattle, just as the United States is entering World War I. Addie finds herself shuttling back and forth between past and present, drawn in both times to the grand Jewel Theater. In both decades the existence of the Jewel is threatened and war is looming . . . and someone she cares about is determined to fight.
Eventually, Addie realizes that only she has the key to saving the Jewel—and the lives of her friends. But will she figure out how to manipulate the intricately woven threads of time and truly set things right?
Why I’m waiting on this? It is no secret I love historical fiction, but I also recently read a book involving time travel that just blew my mind. Put those two elements together, and I hope I’ll be one very satisfied reader.
What are you waiting on? Leave me a link & I’ll stop by :)
This one does sounds good! I love historical fiction, too, and after reading Hourglass, I'm ready for more time-travel stories!

I've never been into time travel but Hourglass totally changed that for me. I just finished it this morning! So this book might be just what I need at this moment haha...I'm suffering from Hourglass withdrawal symptoms already ):

I love a good historical fiction too and this does sound amazing. Great pick!
ReplyDeleteI like that she time travels back to the early 20th century. There aren't too many YA books set in that particular time period around WWI. I will be adding this to my TBR list.
ReplyDeleteI love historical fiction too, this one sounds great!
ReplyDeleteO me too! Awesome choice.

What a lovely cover. I hadn't heard of this book before. I don't read much historical fiction, but I love time travel. Wonder how well they will work together.

Ooh, me too! I love historical fiction. Time-travel, on the other hand, confuses me a lot... but at least this one doesn't sound like many different periods worth of time-travel--that boggles me the most. I hadn't heard of the Jewel and the Key before. Thanks for sharing this! Will add it to my to-read pile :D.

I agree : time travel and historical fiction are an excellent match, plus I just love that period in time! I'm waiting for it too, now!
ReplyDeleteSO, this takes place during the war? It is kind of confusing but I am wondering where do you by it?
ReplyDeleteAnd what does the mirror have to do with the theater? ANyone know, reply back to me!
