Description from Hachette Book Group:

TWO BRILLIANT AGENTS

FBI Special Agent Monica Davenport has made a career out of profiling serial killers. But getting inside the twisted minds of the cruel and the sadistic has taken its toll: She's walled herself off from the world. Yet Monica can't ignore fellow agent Luke Dante, the only man who ever broke through her defenses.

ONE DREAM TEAM

Luke has the unique ability to put victims at ease . . . professionally, he and Monica made a perfect team. Now they're reunited to catch a murderer who uses his victims' deepest, darkest fears for sport - but their investigative skills aren't enough. Luke and Monica will have to face the secrets from their past, the ones that terrify them the most, if they are to have a future together.
But can they catch a killer whose weapon is . . .

DEADLY FEAR

My thoughts:

Monica Davenport is an FBI profiler with a reputation for being the best. She has also earned the nickname, Ice, as a result of her frosty demeanor. Luke Dante is the one person who was ever able to make her feel. Now he’s back in her life, and threatening to shatter the shell she hides behind. The two are partnered, and sent to Mississippi to hunt a serial killer who targets his victim’s fears. Monica will have to face not only the secrets she has tried to keep buried, but also the undeniable attraction she feels for Luke.

I’m a huge fan of Cynthia Eden’s paranormal novels, and was so excited when I heard she was writing a romantic suspense. Her books are always full of intense situations that have me holding my breath, and couples with amazing chemistry. Deadly Fear was no exception. Monica and Luke have suffered in the past at the hands of others, but came out wanting to make the world a better place. I loved Monica’s bravery and no nonsense attitude. Luke’s chivalry had me swooning. The plot was fast paced, and at end I still hadn’t figured out who the killer was. Monica and Luke together just oozed sexy. This one was hard to put down.

  3. My greatest fear is my boys safety. I remember being 18 and 21. I swear I was protected by angels - by rights I should have died several times. So that is truly my greatest fear.

  6. Uh, how long do you have? Because this list of fears / phobias of mine goes on for a bit. lol. How about I do the top 5? Sound good? lol.

    1) Spiders -- I don't care how big or small those bastards are they all give me a heartattack & I'll nearly break my neck trying to get away from them.

    2) Closets -- Because the boogeyman lives there And I am certain they are portals to some scary place... where else would the boogeyman come from? { I'm dead serious on this }

    3) Semi Trucks -- Uh, when you and your car gets ran over by one of these jokers it sorta happens that you'll fear them forever. lol.

    4) Driving -- see above.

    5) Scuba Divers -- I strongly believe they are the only ones that can drag you under while you are swiming, murder you, and swim away and never be caught. { Never thought about that before did you. }

  14. Wow! Deadly Fears sounds like a book I would love to read. I love FBI Romantic Suspense novels.

    What I am extremely afraid of is SPIDERS. I have been bitten by a Brown Recluse spider twice within a week and it's only by the grace of God that the doctor where I worked recognized the bite & sent me to my family doctor. Spiders (any size) are my worst nightmare. I'm also very fearful of thunderstorms...I fear the dreaded tornado. Last but definitely not least, I have a fear of being alone.

    Thank you for the opportunity to win this book.

    Smiles,
    Cindy W.

  18. Hi Christie, I think this review was really well done. My biggest fear, physically is heights. I didn't even know this until visiting ITaly and being on a parapet almost made me swoon. BUt, that would be behind having something happen to my husband or pets. Fangs, Wands and Fairy Dust

  28. My greatest fear is something happening to my husband. He has a habit of being in the wrong place at the wrong time and things like violence and buildings blowing up happen. It was worse when he was in the Navy and Navy Reserves but my friends still call me and ask where he will be in the world when they are planning a vacation.
